Rosey Anniversary

Wow...summer is now in Northern Japan! Thank goodness, too...I was beginning to think it forgot about us all the way up here. ;)

Unfortunately with great weather comes less craft/computer time for me. I usually end up outside throwing balls to my kids who are just starting baseball season. I actually LOVE baseball, so it is as much fun for me as it is for them. :)

Now...on to why you really came to my blog...LOL. I was seeing a lot of this "reinker" technique all over the blogisphere. I just knew I had to try it for my in-law's Anniversary card. They were thrilled with the results.

It took all I could do to not add anything to the bottom right corner. My DH kept saying "less is more"!! Oh, maybe just a little piece of ribbon...or paper piercing...:)

Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral, Watercolor Garden, unknown sentiment
Paper: Shimmery White, Rose Red, White, Wild Wasabi DP, Close to Cocoa
Ink: Rose Red, Regal Rose, Wild Wasabi, Close to Cocoa, Barely Banana
Accessories: rhinestones :)

In case you are wondering how I did it...I used shimmery white cardstock, stamped the image in white craft ink and sprinkled it with white embossing powder, heat to set. I then misted my paper with water. I took my barely banana reinker, put some in my ink pad lid, and picked up the color with my aqua pen. You just barely touch the paper with the brush tip and it takes off! I repeated the process with the other colors. At first, it did not look very pretty, but once it dried I was much happier!

As always, thank you for taking the time to visit!

Wow, girl! That's gawgous!!! I love that technique, I don't have the shimmer cardstock, I wonder if it would work on anything else? I will have to see. Oh, and I see what you mean about the bottom right corner. I mean, the card is amazing, but that corner is screaming at me too! Red dew drops or paper piercing!!! Hey, I ran across a tutorial online to make your own dewdrops. Did you see that? I can't remember what blog it was, but I will try it and let you know how they turn out!

Hi Siobhan - this anniversary card is gorgeous. 5th Ave Floral is so versatile! I can definitely see why your in-laws were thrilled (other than the fact that you're their DIL!!) :)

That does look like a cool technique, I haven't tried it yet, but intend to, although I don't know if it would turn out as well as yours. I need your DH over at my house apparently, because I never can stop fussing with my cards and ALWAYS add just one more thing. Happy warmer weather in Northern Japan. Send me some Northern Japan sock yarn and I'll knit you some socks for a Northern Japanese winter. The snow will be flying before we know it. (I know, I know, summer just got here!)

Wow, this turned out really great. I love that you can see the different colors that you used, especially that touch of yellow, reminds me of sunlight. Have fun with the kiddos!

Cool Card Mama Monkey! I wouldn't have been able to resist, little ribbon threaded through with a little fluffy bow in the right corner. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Beautiful card! You did a great job with that technique! I like the empty corner but I know how hard it is to leave it blank.

I have a blog award for you on my blog. Please stop by when you get a chance

So very beautiful and worthy of an anniversary! As you know, I struggle with the "less is more" concept too. I do think generally, simplicity wins out. Thanks for explaining how you did it -- I wanna try it. With your baseball throwing to your children, think of it this way, you are strengthening your stamping muscles!

P.S. -- I love your new blog look

This card is so pretty. YOur watercoloring is great. I'm glad the weather has finally gotten warmer for you. I feel like summer is half over already here. The nice weather seems to fly by while the crappy weather hangs around for a long time.
