As many of you know, my husband is in the military. This means, among other things, every few years we uproot and move. As much of a pain the rear moving is, it sure is a great excuse to clean (well, be forced to clean) out the closets!
This looming move is why I have been absent from the blog world for a little bit. The kids were out on Spring Break, so I took the opportunity to clean house...and clean house we did! I only have a few more rooms to tackle...but it will be easy peasy with help from the DH!
Speaking of DH, he took a look at my craft area tonight and had to audacity to ask if I would be getting rid of anything. Silly boy...how long have we been married? NO, I am not giving up my toys. I would give up a child before I did that. Kidding, of course. Partially. ;)
So, where am I moving, you ask? Just wait...
Now for the card. This is ironic...a friend here asked me to make a card she could send to her friend in Alaska. She requested a thinking of you theme, with a little of Japan mixed in with Alaska. And she loves the Bella line of stamps. This is what I came up with!
Why is it ironic? Because soon thereafter, I found out we were moving Alaska!
While I am admittedly more than ready to be done with snow (California girl has had enough after 13 years, but who is counting?!), I am so excited for this adventure! And if I have to live in the snow, why not go to such a magical place?! We are lucky enough to have several friends already there and more moving in this summer. Plus, what makes the winter pass more quickly than to stamp it away?! :)
And hey, look at the bright side...I don't have to live in a State that likes the Cowboys! (That was for my football fan friends who know how much I **love** the Cowgirls! Ironically enough, that move to Texas almost happened!) Enough of the football smack-talk! ;) You can now bombard me with Sarah Palin comments in retaliation! I am ready for you...with my lipstick on!
Thanks for stopping by!

This card is so cute. This would make a nice address change card for you when you move. Good luck on your move. Sounds like you are ready for the challenge. My dad was a marine and we moved a lot and it was so exciting everytime we moved.
Too cute! What a crafty idea. I adore your art work! It has just the right touch.
Love the card!! Wow!! What a move you guys are going to make!!! Keeping you guys in my prayers!

Oh first I'll just tell you that your card is adorable!!! But I'm so excited for you to be going to Alaska! I would LOVE it there and I think you'll enjoy the time there! I know you'll be ready to leave the snow too... but embrace it and enjoy while there!!! Hugs and prayers!
Cute card! Love how you incorporated the Alaska and Japan theme together. I am so jealous, I would love to move to Alaska! Just haven't convince my husband! Good luck with the packing.
Well I'm glad you didn't keep us in permanent suspense . . . Alaska would be quite the adventure! I hope your move goes well. This is sort of nice, you have to clean and purge, which is a lot of work but probably quite a nice feeling when its done. Cute card BTW, very creative iwth the globe image, I wouldn't have thought of that.
Love that card and too funny how ironic you made it right before the news... excited to hear where you all are going and can't wait to hear how you like it there!
This card is perfect. Now you can recreate it about a hundred times and send it out to all your Kota pals LOL in honor of your move ;)
What an adorable card! Good luck with your move. My dad built a cabin after he retired and spends half of his year up in Alaska. He likes being able to fish and hunt in his own backyard. :) I'd trade a child before my toys too. hahaha
Alaska! How cool is that! (And by cool, I mean...fun/unique...not cold...but that, too, I guess!) Ever since my parents went there on a trip two years ago, I've wanted to go there sometime.
Hope the cleaning went well!
what a great idea for a card
Such an awesome card! Rock on Alaska!! I am sure you will make the very most of your move! Have fun!
Gorgeous card Siobella!!! I agree with Carrie, need to send it to all of Kota's Kids with the new address. Glad you don't have to go to Cowland!!!
LOL! It's okay, Siobella...I know alll your secrets..your secret love of the Dallas Cowboys and your secret love of the snow! Giving up a child..debatable...lol! You crack me up, girlfriend! :)
Love, love, love this card...so creative!!
Oh how fun to move to Alaska! What an adventure for you and the family! You are so funny when you said DH wanted to know what you might get rid of!! What was he thinking??? HEEE!!!
Anyway, I just love the card. Perfect twist of Alaska and Japan mixed together. Great color combination too.
Best of luck to you and your family.
What a cute card! You will be in for such a shocker moving to Alaska. My sister lives there (her dh was formerly at Elmendorf) and let's just say she'd rather be south. WAY south. Let's hope your dh doesn't decide to retire there like hers did.
Best of luck with the move! Love the card, such a clever idea.
Your card is just perfect! I love the mix of stamps!
strike my last comment about closet cleaning - you have plenty on your plate digging out your snowshoes and leaning mushing terminology :) Good luck on the move to Alaska - what a fun adventure! While I'm not envious of having to pack up your life every few years, I'm completely jealous of all the places you'll be able to look back at one day.
and how cool that your card making skills are part psychic....maybe in four years you should design cards of Paris or Hawaii :)
Ohhh lovely card. Lucky you moving to Alaska, so pretty. You could become an Iceroad Trucker in your spare time.lol.
Hahaha! The card is great, BTW! But, I cannot believe your DH assumed you would be cleaning out your craft stash! You are the mother of all hoarders, of course you must keep it, all of it! And when you get to Alaska, you can buy more! Imagine the new exciting things you will find to buy!
Should you meet Sarah, tell her I am still a fan :)
