HSSCS1: Asian Butterfly

Shhh...don't tell that ol' Murphy! I have been so on top of things this week that I have been able to spend lots of time creating and blurfing! In doing so, I found a fun new challenge blog, Hand Stamped Sentiments.

This card is for their first color challenge...to use Basic Grey, Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry, and Dusty Durango together.

Admittedly, I am not a huge fan of turquoise, but this combo has made me view it in a different light! I think I am in love!

The butterfly is popped off and finished with Stickles and Crystal Effects. I did the same for the 2 little ones on the left side.

In order to give this some interest, I used Versamark with a different stamp on each of the panels (which are all scraps, by the way!). By far, my favorite panel was the turquoise one. I crumpled it up, flattened it, sanded it, and then stamped my main image in different directions all over it. It added just that needed flair without taking away from my main focus, which was the butterfly!

Stamps: M2162 Butterfly with Ferns (Hero Arts), Asian Poetry, Asian Art
Paper: Basic Grey, Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry, Dusty Durango, PTI White
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark, Copics
Accessories: SU Brads, Crystal Effects, Stickles
, MS Butterfly punch

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you have a wonderful Superbowl weekend!!

Siobhan,
WOW is all I can say. The 3-D butterfly is beautiful. I love how you used Versa Mark to tie all the layers together. I too wasn't a huge fan of turquoise until this challenge. Great job and thank you so much for participating.

I never would have thought of using those colors together. Turquoise isn't a color I work with a lot either, although it is growing on me. I love that each of the panels are stamped too.

Ahh, Mama! You are on a roll -- how could anyone ever live in Arizona and not love turquoise -- see what you've been missing -- this is beautiful.

I "used" to not be a big fan of butterflies...but I swear they're everywhere right now & I'm loving them all! I agree that turquoise can be a tough color to work with, but it looks terrific on your card!
