As I made this card, I used specific colors for a reason. The black is for his eternal peace, the brown is for Afghanistan and the utility uniform, and the red represents the blood red stripe down the Marine dress uniform.
I clear embossed the stars and the sentiment for a subtle effect. The main image is stamped/colored on watercolor paper and placed up on dimensionals.
As you view my blog today if you feel so inclined, please say a prayer or think a positive thought about our troops serving all around the world protecting our freedom.
On a lighter note, my first weeks of work are going well! I hope to get myself in a good routine so I have more time to craft and blog. Thanks for your patience as I get used to my new schedule!
As always, thank you for visiting!

Beautiful and thoughtful... you know that they appreciated your thoughts through this. Thoughts are always out there for our military members and their families. Thanks for sharing this special card and its heartfelt symbolism.
It is so sad when I hear about our fallen soldiers, there have been too many. What a very fitting card.
I am so grateful for the time Travis spent defending our country. I think your card embodies all of the sacrifices he made for us. Beautiful!
Very sorry for the loss. The card is beautiful and knowing the meaning behind the colors makes it even nicer.
I hardly know what to say... a beautifully done card but for such a sad occasion... thank you for caring and for bringing the realities of this to our attention once again... we need to constantly be praying for our troops! I so appreciate all the significance you put into this!
Beautiful card. I think it's great hat the colours and elements have meaning.
Happy that your job is going well.
I am so sorry for your friend's loss. It makes me so sad to hear these stories of these young soldiers that have lost their lives. I think about all their families and friends that will be missing them so terribly. i hope your friend is comforted by your card.
It always makes me sad and sober to read about one of our brave young men or women losing their lives for the cause of freedom. This is a great tribute card. I just sent a big packet of cards to a military wife to forward to her husband's unit. I think of them every day.
I love how your choices were so thoughtful, Siobhan - this says so much about you and will mean so much to those carrying on Travis's memory.
Glad to hear you're getting into the swing of things with work :)
So very sad....sending a prayer up for his family tonight. Gorgeous card.

What a beautiful. I am just sad for your reason for making it! I so appreciate all of our service men and women who do so much for us.
So sad. 19 is so young - such a thoughtful card, I'm sure it will be cherished.
I will definitely say a prayer...
While sobering, your card is a beautiful tribute to a precious life and a priceless sacrifice. I absolutely will pause in prayer for all our brave young men and women who sacrifice so much in the service of their country. They are all heroes to me.
So sad to loose someone so young. You honored him and your friend's loss with such thought behind your beautiful card.
What a beautiful tribute for Travis. I'm praying for all our dedicated service men and women all over the world and for the families that have lost loved ones too.
Tragic, indeed. It's hard to even hear of a man so young being robbed of the remainder of his life. I love your card, and the colors being meaningful just makes it so special. This is great.
