What a fun week I have had! See, I think I am finally getting the balance of the kids home for summer and some time at the craft table! Ironic, being as summer vaca is almost over, but I am ecstatic none-the-less!
Once again, I had to play with the Bellarific Friday Sketch. This one was a doozy for me. Rather than put the image on the vertical rectangle panel, I just *had* to insist of inking the long horizontal panel. I am so stubborn sometimes!
After a few choice words, here is what my card ended up looking like:
I tried to show my 100 yen store find...this yummy gathered black ribbon! It is right under the green panel. I liked the look of the black on black. You can see it better in real life. :)
And the sketch:
Additionally, I needed a card for DS' friend. This is also based on the sketch, but helps to meet another challenge my Ocean's 11 Blog Group is doing. Amy challenged us to pair 3 colors we would not normally use together. Blue, Red, Green. Not normal for me; totally guided by that patterned paper!!
Funny...I was so limited in this card because of DS. He did NOT want me to embellish it! I guess 9 year old boys aren't so much into the bling and shimmer, now are they?! I did sneak some Liquid Glass onto the balloon, which he loved. :)
Hey, and how about my ability to use my scraps?! The pattern paper is all from the scrap pile and I dusted off the deckle scissors for the sentiment! Seriously, those scissors are circa 2001. Scary. But I think it worked!
As a side note, Stampingbella.com is having a release today! Woo Hoo! I am in love with the sneak peeks, so I can only image how over the moon I will be when I see it all!
Thanks for taking the time to visit today!

I love the color combo in your first card! Fun & whimsical with a bit of chic! And your son put a smile on my face. :> Glad he approved of a glossed balloon! My daughter looooves using my old decorative edged scissors! We haven't let her use real scissors yet, but she's doing pretty well with the decorative ones, we'll probably get her a kidlet pair of scissors soon. I figure at least a supply that is taking up space that I don't use much of anymore is getting used and some love! :>:>
Oh yea, that neon embossing powder you saw? Nope, its from 1994!! There is also hot hot pink embossing foil. I have an entirely new stash of glitter, some flock and embossing powders from my last nine years of crafting, but that tub is from when I started stamping back in '94. I keep avoiding digging in there because of how glitterfied I end up (well, actually everything I touch ends up!).....but, I want to play with some of the fantastic colors that are in there now. :>
I'm lovin' both of the cards, but the DSP on that first one is AWESOME! Those swirls are too cool! That black ribbon is pretty sweet too - nice find!
These are both great!! the few choice words must've done the trick b/c that first card is wonderful!! I love the dp, circle sentiment w/button, & gathered ribbon! the card you created for your son's friend is adorable!! what a great sentiment - and the colors work perfectly here....I still have yet to finish that challenge....well, who needs a clean house :)
oh I'm glad you had such a great week! Love both cards! Had to laugh about the scissors... I have some a good 10 years older than that... now THAT's scary! Love the colors on the first one and that ribbon is really yummy!
Love the monster card, it's hard not to embellish isn't it! Love the colors on the top card too!
Great work on both of these. Love the colors you used on the first and the second is just adorable! Both have so many wonderful details!
Love both of your cards! Great job on the challenges! You are so brave! I hate to ink directly on my front panel. LOL I am all about stamping it ,coloring it and then cutting it out! Much more forgiving of mistakes! Love the colors you used on both cards!
Cute cards. I love the one with the swimsuits on it. The color combo goes great and is a favorite of mine.
These are beyond adorable. Colors are perfection. You have been busy, busy -- for a "Mama Monkey" -- I've never done a blog hop -- at your suggestion maybe I'll hop on it! Like -- I'm retired, I can play if I want to!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the bathing suit card!
