True Friend

When I was looking for a project o post tonight, I came across this card I made a few weeks ago. How little did I know at the time it would be perfectly suited for such an evening!

Deployments are nothing new to me. In my 12 years of marriage, DH and I have been apart probably half of that time. What makes this one more "special" is that we are living in a foreign country. On a day to day basis, I hardly notice (except for not being able to read the street signs!). Then...you get sick...and don't have another adult to help you out, or family even remotely close by!

This past week my 2 older kids and I got sick with some yucky URI. It really kicked me in the rear! I was blessed to have friends that brought groceries, homemade soup, took my 3 year old so I could rest, gave me flowers...seriously, I was SO appreciative. Military spouses ROCK!

So, here is my card with a sentiment that is fitting for all my "girls":

Stamps: True Friend (SU)
Paper: Sahara Sand, Kiwi Kiss, Baja Blue, Chatterbox DSP
Ink: Marker to Stamp: Really Rust, Kiwi Kiss, Baja Blue
Accessories: Rhinestone Brads, Kiwi Kiss Ribbon

Thanks for looking! I promise to make it by all my blogger girls shortly with some love!

I hope you and the kids are over the worse part of the bug. It is nice that there is a community close by that can help in times of need. I am sure you will return the favour if needed.

I love the colours on the card (and the DSP). The image goes so well with the image.

Hope everyone is feeling better - that is no fun, but glad that you have some great friends who have been able to help out.

And no, I don't have a tax background. I don't even think I've studied anything tax related since I passed the CPA exam...sorry!

Yip, being a military spouse is totally the toughest job in the military, regardless of which branch of service you call home. But on the flip side, you get all these wonderful, brave, strong, inspiring women as friends. Your card is perfect!
Glad to hear you are feeling better :)

I am so glad you have some women there to help you out! I can't imagine being without my husband for more than a day or two, especially with kids. I must say, thanks for what you and your family do for the rest of us! It means a lot to me. Jim was in the Navy before we met, and I don't know that I could do it if I had to. You amaze me, and THANKS!

This is really lovely. I am so glad you had support when you needed it even though your DH wasn't around.
I am sure all your friends realise you would do the same for them.

My DH and I have been married 12 years too, but haven't had to deal with the separation like that. You are amazing to be able to do that AND also live in a foreign country! I'm so glad you have friends nearby to help out and lend a hand (or food or whatever!) Your card is just beautiful and I know each and every person who would receive it would be so thrilled! Hang in there and I hope you and your kiddos get over those URI's quickly!

Your card is beautiful - love the colors.

Hope you and the kids are feeling better. I used to work for the Navy and had a lot of friends who were military wives. They always talked about how close their community was and how many ended up being life time friendships.

I'm glad that you had people there for you.

I've gone over to typepad. My new url is www.inspirations by rachel.com

Great card. I'm glad you had people there to help you. I can only imagine how hard it is to be so far from home and sick. Are you all better now? This year has been a bad year for sickness I think. We've had a lot going on here.

The colors on the card are great. They go so well with this set. I think I've used similar colors with this set in the past. They just go with it.
