Project Webkinz

The other day I heard muffled sniffs and silent tears coming from the computer room. Yes, we already know I have super-human smell, but I also apparently have a sixth sense for when one of the kids is crying. Again, DH is not blessed with this ability, which drives me crazy...but I digress.

Before I could move from the couch, my 6 year old daughter was walking toward me with red eyes, a runny nose, and a tear stained face.

"What's wrong, sweetie?" I ask.

"I killed my Webkinz!" she spoke in a barely audible whisper.

You can call me a bad Mom, but I was somewhat humored with her reaction! She was so upset she could hardly talk. I knew I had to tread lightly or I could do some emotional damage that would cost us years of time on the couch.

"What makes you think you killed your Webkinz?"

"Reiny is stuck in a room, " she sobbed, "and she can't get out! There is a big red balloon blocking the entrance." (BTW, Reiny is a, you guessed it...Reindeer.)

For this type of problem, I knew I had to call in reinforcements, my son! I asked him if he would "mind" helping his sister save her Webkinz. Honestly, I have NO IDEA how this whole Webkinz thing works! I mean, I sit there and watch them log on, play a bit, and then I stamp or something 2 feet away, but no, I don't play it with them. I am useless if such an incident occurs!

After a few minutes, my son emerged from the room.

"So, how'd it go?" I inquire. "Did she really kill it?"

"No, I saved it, Mom", he confidently stated, "but just so you know, she is going to end up being a hobo when she is older."

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"Well, she had no food for Reiny. Her basket was full of clothes and furniture and stuff. She is not very responsible Mom. She will end up homeless, walking around town in a fancy pair of boots and cute dresses."

His insight is just amazing for an 8 year old. (Thankfully not insightful enough to know what those ladies who walk around in boots and dresses do for a living! Ha Ha)

I then proceeded to go in and ask my daughter if she knew she had to buy food and other "essential" items for her Webkinz.

"Yes, I know Mom, but these clothes are just soooo cute!"

Oh no...my future just flashed before my eyes...my daughter is going to be a fashion diva! HELP!

OMgosh this is just too funny! I am so glad my boys aren't into the webkins yet! And glad again that I have boys and not girls! I am such a fashion horse I am afraid any daughter of mine would be 10 times worse!

It's funny 'cause it's true! I developed an unfortunate Webkinz addiction when my boys received them as gifts, then forgot about them. However, I purchased rooms gallore to feed my frenzy.

OMG! What a child. Does it sound familiar? Mama Monkey says "Sorry child can't feed you today because they just came out with the most fabulous DP and CS and Ribbon, Oh My." LOL!!!

I am crying from laughing so hard. She sounds just like my daughter, Toti. She can be bawling her eyes out about something in the morning when she's getting dressed, but she'll stop and say" do I look cute in this?". Of course it is my fault, I dress my three little girls like they are dress up dolls. It is just so much fun to buy cute things. I hate winter clothes though. All pants. I like summer dresses and capris the best. Not to mention SHOES! Okay, I digress....get ready to check your daughter's house for food someday. You better bring some when you visit. On the upside, she'll probably have great sandals, lol. Also, I love the comment your son made. He sounds a lot like Nick.

P.S. My kids will be sending yours something soon. We've been so busy they haven't had time to do anything lately.

HaHa! Thanks SO MUCH for sharing this story. You just made my day. What a cute thing for him to say. She sounds like a funny girl, too. I'm betting she won't be a hobo at all, but a well-dressed, if hungry girl! My kids are still younger than this, so these stories are I am sure similar to things that will happen to me. I love it!

Oh my, that is hillarious. I don't have any daughters, so no divas, here, but I can definitely relate to what older siblings say about younger siblings!!
