Queen of the Valley

Tonight as we were on our way to the base for baseball practice, I started to smell something...for lack of a better word...yummy! The smell seemed to get stronger as I opened my window.

Is there a festival around? It smelled like fresh cotton candy.

"What is that smell, Mom?" my son asked disgusted. "It smells like a girl." Ah, in time you will seek out that smell, my little man, like a moth to a flame...but not until you are 30.

At any rate, my daughter, who was dressed in cleats and sweats, with hair in a pony tail started to giggle.

"It's just my lip gloss," she cheerfully exclaimed. "Isn't it divine?"

Oh my. On our way to baseball and she is primping! Agghhh!!!

Fast forward to practice...my little moon-beam is playing right field. Between hits (which, admittedly are few and far between...) she is putting on lip gloss! How did she manage to get that on the field?!

On the drive home, we talked about each of the kids' shining moments at practice as well as the areas to help us grow. My daughter tends to stand there and let the other kids get the ball rather than run after it herself.

"Sweetie, you need to run after the ball. It is not going to come directly to you. Run after it! You own the right field", I encouraged her.

"Oh, like I am Queen of the Right Field Valley!" she exclaimed.

Yes... little shining-cotton-candy-lip-gloss-Queen, like you are the Queen of Right Field.

**sigh** Well, I guess this is a step up from the dandelion bouquets I used to receive during soccer season.

Rosey Anniversary

Wow...summer is now in Northern Japan! Thank goodness, too...I was beginning to think it forgot about us all the way up here. ;)

Unfortunately with great weather comes less craft/computer time for me. I usually end up outside throwing balls to my kids who are just starting baseball season. I actually LOVE baseball, so it is as much fun for me as it is for them. :)

Now...on to why you really came to my blog...LOL. I was seeing a lot of this "reinker" technique all over the blogisphere. I just knew I had to try it for my in-law's Anniversary card. They were thrilled with the results.

It took all I could do to not add anything to the bottom right corner. My DH kept saying "less is more"!! Oh, maybe just a little piece of ribbon...or paper piercing...:)

Stamps: Fifth Avenue Floral, Watercolor Garden, unknown sentiment
Paper: Shimmery White, Rose Red, White, Wild Wasabi DP, Close to Cocoa
Ink: Rose Red, Regal Rose, Wild Wasabi, Close to Cocoa, Barely Banana
Accessories: rhinestones :)

In case you are wondering how I did it...I used shimmery white cardstock, stamped the image in white craft ink and sprinkled it with white embossing powder, heat to set. I then misted my paper with water. I took my barely banana reinker, put some in my ink pad lid, and picked up the color with my aqua pen. You just barely touch the paper with the brush tip and it takes off! I repeated the process with the other colors. At first, it did not look very pretty, but once it dried I was much happier!

As always, thank you for taking the time to visit!

Eggcitement

I am not a big sticker person in my scrapbooks (well, anymore that is...in a previous life it looked as if I owned stock in Mrs. Grossman's...), but I did like the look of layering the letters on top of some old CM Easter stickers.

I am really, really trying to use my supplies and not let them to go waste...(or end up as decoration on my walls, furniture, etc courtesy of a cute and rather sly 3 year old!)

Paper is SU Bali Breeze (love this pack!), stickers CM, title from my Cricut Street Sign cartridge.

Thanks for visiting!
